This was previously our page up at the top of the blog when this was our current home. We have now upgraded to a 2016 Montana High Country 340BH.
Meet “Dorothy” – Our Home on Wheels – so named because “there’s no place like home” (and it just happens to be one of Brian’s favorite movies of all time). She is a 2008 Crossroads Sunset Trail 30BH.
We purchased Dorothy on our honeymoon. We started out in our Jayco Jay Flight trailer pulled by our Toyota RAV4 and enjoyed two amazing weeks touring through Washington and Oregon. We had planned a full month, however the travel bug bit us so fast we didn’t know what hit us. Our trip began and we started our Instagram page, which led us to find out that many couples our age (with kids even!) were living in RV’s full time and traveling. I mean, who ever heard of such a thing? As soon as we found this out, we knew we had found our dream. We talked and talked and started looking at trailers while we were enjoying our honeymoon. By two weeks in, we had found our dream trailer – Dorothy!!! – except she was all the way in Indiana. Well what else was there to do but cut our honeymoon short and go get her!
It was love at first sight. We hitched her up and brought her home.
Here are some photos of the interior when we first bought Dorothy:
And here is a walkthrough video tour!!
We didn’t get to stay in the trailer on our way home, and the very FIRST time we even got to use it was four months later! We had title issues to straighten out before we could get plates. We took our first trip Spring Break 2015 to visit the kids in Montana. Before we took off, we made a few changes to the interior. We are starting to put our stamp on it with our own style, and we have a lot more plans!
These were just a few stylistic changes as well as better function with the kitchen island and the storage ottomans. Our future plans include staining all of the wood darker, adding a tile backsplash, removing wallpaper and changing the window treatments. We will have it looking super modern by the time we roll out of here to live in it full time – July 2015!
